The Passage of Health Care "Reform": A Call to Action November 2, 2010

Americans from around the country watched last night as the House of Representatives ignored the will of the people -- and the United States Constitution -- by passing the budget-busting, tax-increasing, liberty-infringing government takeover of health care.  The new law will increase taxes, create new government bureaucracies, and impose new mandates on American citizens, while increasing the cost of health insurance, the size and scope of the federal government, and the deficit. YRNF Policy Chairman Dave Smith said "ObamaCare is bad politics and bad policy, especially for young professionals.  The passage of health care 'reform' represents one of the biggest expansions of government intrusiveness in our history, and it comes at the expense of the freedom for individuals and families to make health care decisions for themselves.  True health care reform would involve competition and free markets, not taxes and mandates."

President Obama has postponed his trip to Asia to make one final push for his health care "reform" bill.  News sources are reporting that Speaker Pelosi is planning a Sunday vote on the Senate bill and the reconciliation package of negotiated "fixes".

The ObamaCare plan, as mentioned in previous releases, raises taxes, imposes fees, establishes mandates and prohibitions, and increases the size and scope of government while adding to the national debt and infringing on families and individuals.  But the plan could be especially bad for young professionals.

Whether it was in social studies class or the classic "School House Rock" song "I'm Just a Bill", Americans have grown up knowing what it takes to pass a law.  Lest there be any question, the US Supreme Court plainly defined the necessary steps:  "a bill containing its exact text was approved by a majority of the Members of the House of Representatives", "the Senate approved precisely the same text", and "that text was signed into law by the President."  They note that "The Constitution explicitly requires that each of those three steps be taken before a bill may become a law."

Dear YRs:
I want to begin by thanking you for all of the hard work you do on behalf of our organization and for your efforts in helping to elect Republicans to office at all levels of government. I read this morning that since January of last year, Republicans have won 50 special elections to various offices in states across a country. I would like to think that YRs acting individually or in conjunction with their local, state or national organizations played a key role in most if not all of those elections. When we work together as a team there's no limit to what the YRNF can accomplish.

Dear National Committee Members

I wanted to give you a little information that has been requested about our upcoming board meeting in New Orleans.

The YRNF hotel, the Wyndham Whitney, room block has been sold out.  Chairman Bayham is in the process of securing a few more rooms at a different hotel.  If you are still without a room please contact him at 504-258-4467.

Committee meetings will be held at the Wyndham Whitney at the committee chairs discretion either before or after our 5pm reception at Ernst Cafe on Friday night or Saturday morning before the transportation leaves for the board meeting.

Don't forget, State Surveys are due to the YRNF Secretary by March 31, 2010. Failure to submit these documents by said deadline will result in penalties as described in the By-Laws.

Tonight in anticipation of the State of the Union address, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) will launch a "Text to Chat" program starting at 9pm. The mobile chat will allow Americans across the country to discuss the speech via a mobile chat room and will be followed by a live video Q&A session with Members of the House Republican Conference. The program is intended to encourage an ongoing dialogue between concerned Americans and House Republicans, and is open to anyone interested in discussing the policies that will affect them.
